2006-01-07 23:55:00 | The Athlon 3500+ is about the equivalent to a 3.5 Ghz Pentium, (hence the 3500+) and plus the Athlon is a lot better for gaming anyway, here (www.gen-x-pc.com) is a review of exactly what you are after. BTW search these forums there are lots of these threads :) HTH

2006-01-07 23:58:00 | I have heard rumors that the Athlons can get very hot and sometimes burn out! Is this true or false? | Tony Tucker (9565) | |
2006-01-07 23:59:00 | the Athlon 3500+ will offer considerably better gaming performance when compared with the P4 3.2Ghz | Pete O'Neil (6584) | |
2006-01-08 00:00:00 | I have heard rumors that the Athlons can get very hot and sometimes burn out! Is this true or false? This is no longer true (well it was never true) , they have thermal protection measures to prevent this. It is the Intel chips now that are running really hot and use far more power compared to AMD.

2006-01-08 00:03:00 | I have heard rumors that the Athlons can get very hot and sometimes burn out! Is this true or false? Oh god not these outdated rumors surfacing their ugly heads again. Athlon's of 3-4years ago did run hot, and in the odd case did burn themselves out, although that was normally due to poor installation. AMD has dealt with its heat problems many years ago, infact the current crop of AMD processors run considerably cooler than Intels CPU's. If you want a cool running CPU buy an AMD.

2006-01-08 01:03:00 | Burnt out CPUs....that probably came about by that silly little test some group did of running an AMD CPU with its heatsink off. Oh look, it fried in 2 seconds. Any other them nowdays will if you were silly enough to leave the cooler off.
