| 1357666 | 2006-01-07 19:47:00 | Hi All, While I am surfing I like to listing to AOL radio. It seems to have the best selection of stations out there What happens is that when I select a station it will play fine for 3 or 4 songs then suddenly the sound will start to jitter, a few seconds of sound then a pause then sound again for a few seconds. If I leave it playing it does not clear but if I change station I get clear sound again for another 3 or 4 songs. I have had a look at the help site but there is no mention of that problem. I also have Musicmatch and Winamp. On both of these I get clear sound with no problems. I am on 2.5 broadband. Anybody with any ideas ? Thanks Paul |

When you initially connect it will download a reasonable sized chunk as a buffer, then continually suppliment that temporary file as you listen to ensure it always has the next period of audio in memory or on the hard drive in a temporary file. It sounds like it is downloading the initial buffer amount but for some reason is failing to keep up the constant stream, which means it runs out of information (the pause) until it gets another burst of data. If you are not maxing out the data limit of your internet connection downloading other stuff at the same time, the problem may be with AOL in that their streaming server is not capable of keeping up with everyones demands. |
