If you do, what do you think of it?

They're for sale down the road here, for about $111.00

418817 2006-01-06 22:17:00 Installed one of those for a customer before Xmas so he could play Medal of Honour Pacific Assault as it wouldn't run on his MX400
The game keeps crashing and locking up after random time periods sometimes 5mins sometimes 30mins etc
His machine is borderline spec for the game 1.46GHZ with 1GB DDR and minimum recommendation is 1.5GHZ
We haven't yet tracked it down to the cards fault yet
He is downloading a 135Mb patch for the game and we'll see if that fixes things

All other games are playing ok though

418818 2006-01-06 22:29:00 256mb RAM is complete overkill for that chipset, you may be able to hunt down a card with less video RAM for a cheaper price. The Radeon 9550 is based on an underclocked 9600 core, which is definately starting to show its age in modern games. Its an ATI chipset so it'll have solid 2D and great TV-out support but really cant be reckonmended as a gaming card. Gigabyte is a quality manufactuer, so the design of the card will be top notch, and should offer competitive performance when compare with cards with the same chipset.

bartsdadhomer, MoHPA is a relatively new game and thus more demanding than older software. It maybe that MoHPA is putting the computer under load it hasn't experienced before. Unstable hardware can often run undetected and appear stable till put under load. Check to make sure that the CPU and GPU HSF's and both mounted correctly and then use programmes like Prime95 and Memtest to test individual componets in the computer.

418819 2006-01-06 23:47:00 Hmm thanx Guys .

Well, they didnt have any Gigabytes in stock anyway, when I went there lol .

So, got an ASUS 256mb ATI card instead, for round the same price . .

Its good enough . Dual VGA (with DVI/VGA adapter) / or VGA / DVI .

Not too worried about games, since I havent got any .

I use this mostly for playing DVD's, burning / browsing the net . . .
