| 418639 | 2006-01-06 01:16:00 | I have just modified my bootscreen for my new windows install (ntoskrnl.exe + resource hacker) Replaced the file with the modded one in safe mode (as I have always done before) rebooted but I just get the standard bootscreen. I open ntoskrnl.exe after boot in normal mode (the one windows should be using now) to find it is still modified but I'm not seeing the modifications at boot :( . Is there another place windows could be loading ntoskrnl.exe from?? |

| 418641 | 2006-01-13 06:40:00 | For some reason XP SP2 doesnt like mods done to ntoskrnl. SP1 on the other hand didn't mind. IN fact when I modified ntoskrnl with a new bootscreen it gave me the corrupt file error, so I had to go looking for the copy I had made using recovery console. |

| 418642 | 2006-01-13 09:36:00 | Odd as I have done this before with SP2 and had no problems. my boot.ini file: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons |
