418858 2006-01-09 06:25:00 Yeah, you're right. the mic and headphone connection is in the front of my PC.

But here's the good news. I never used the program that configured my sound card, and I used it yesterday. The subwoofer now works with my 4 front and back speakers. Unfortunately, the center speaker still doesn't work. (Let me tell you that the center speaker works, but I don't know how to get them to work together.)

418859 2006-01-09 06:47:00 Thats a start!

Try going back into control panel / sound and audio devices / click on the audio tab . Then the first option (sound playback) .

Click on the volume button under this . If center doesnt show here, go to options / properties .

Click on the playback button, then tick bass, rear, center, front, subwoofer, then click on OK .

Then you'll see center under Volume control .

If there's an advanced button under center, click on this and tick it, if it says Swap center / subwoofer controls, then click on close .

Put the sliders up full (These are under volume control - the name of the window) for wav, bass (or bassboost),front, rear, center, subwoofer .

Then see if all speakers work .

What program did u use last yesterday? Soundmax?

This is a program that gets installed, on some more recent motherboards for the soundcard .

This is weird . . .

So I clicked Properties when I'm in Advanced Volume Control, and when I click
Playback, there are only these boxes:

Volume Control
Wave
SW Synth
CD Player
TV Tuner Audio
Microphone
Line In
Front Line-In

418865 2006-01-27 20:51:00 1. Whats the motherboard. Is this a branded system? ie: HP/Compaq/Dell, or did u make this system up yourself?

2. Did u install the soundcard drivers at all? If so, what are they called? ie: something like Soundmax?
