418524 2006-01-05 19:15:00 Hi,

I have a DVD writer and I have been trying to rip some new albums to my computer and having a few problems. Most of the disc is ripped easily but then the last few tracks don't rip at all (just takes forever to progress). I'm not sure if my drive is faulty or if it just needs cleaning. Does anyone know of a good diagnostic utility to check whether there is a problem with the drive? It is less than a year old and I installed it myself and up until the other day had no problems with it at all. I even tried running some anti-antipiracy software with no success.

Thanks

I'd say it's a copy protection issue, rather than a fault with the unit

Plus check the CD / DVDs whatever your trying to rip for scratches, I've had this happen to me and it can take hours to try and rip them, even when it gets them its rubbish.
