419725 2006-01-10 05:23:00 Whats the best way to find out what size to get etc and any other usefull info I might need. Thank you. Joe Blogs (35)
419726 2006-01-10 05:30:00 Get Everest home or some program to check out the system.

It should tell u what the ram can go to, what kind of ram is installed (sd or ddr ram) etc.

419727 2006-01-10 05:33:00 Check updated version of motherboard manual and motherboard maker's website to see hwat they say.

Kingston's memory tool will tell you what you need (of course they are selling their stuff).

And yes, Everest will reveal what you already have in there without breaking open the case (although I tend to take a good look anyway).

419733 2006-01-12 04:30:00 Ok i think I've got it

it was under "SPD"

2 X 256 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM

plus a slot free

So as long as i match the speed i could stick a 512Mb stick in there?

419734 2006-01-12 04:31:00 isn't funny how many of us are spelling "extra" as "Xtra", I have caught myself doing this many times as well.

Annoys me a bit as I hate Xtra.
