419714 2006-01-10 05:14:00 i usually use nero to burn my cds
but this time i need to burn an audio cd with one big track
the track nearly fills the whole 80min so i want to split it into 5min tracks
so it will be easier to seek
the recording is continuous so i can't have any gap in between the split up tracks
nero can't seem to do this it has to add 2sec pause

i've used burnatonce before to achieve this before but now my writer doesn't work with burnatonce so i need an alternative
or just some program that can make my big long wav file into an audio cd iso with my 'no pause split tracks' so i can just burn it with nero

any suggestions or alternative methods??
thanx

419715 2006-01-10 05:28:00 I don't think you can do this with standard software.. You're wanting to have tracks with no gap between them. The gaps are what define the tracks. :( I suppose what you need is one continuous track (which you've already got ;) ), and an index file (TOC sort of thing ... I'm not too sure of the terminology) which will let you jump to different time points in the track. That's how you find real tracks ... the time markers are what the drive seeks to. But the normal production software just detects gaps, and writes the TOC index file with the appropriate timecodes. Graham L (2)

Not sure, but I think that "PolderbitS" will do it. Free for 14 days ...so may be worth giving it a try ! If you do - then let us know how you got on.

419717 2006-01-10 11:02:00 No, it is default for there to be a 2 second gap between tracks, and yes, you can turn that off (it is not part of the actual track-seperation itself), It's just an extra pause added onto each track.

nero does have the option of turning it off - in the track listing editor when you add the audio files to the compilation, right click each track, find where it has gap/pause and change it from 2 to 0.

Bring up Nero Express, choose Music, audio cd, and as Agent says, beside that add in screen is a choice to tick for no pause between tracks.

419719 2006-01-11 00:16:00 But the problem is, as I see it, that it is just one big .WAV file: one track.

Is there a programme which will properly split it into 5 minute segments (each of which can be played as a .WAV file) which can then be called tracks (with some care to keep them in sequence ;)). If a burning programme can then put them on with no intervening gaps, and each "track" has an entry in the TOC, that's what's wanted.

419720 2006-01-11 23:12:00 nero wave editor should be able to spilt the file up for you... Agent_24 (57)
419721 2006-01-13 20:23:00 gidday,

You could try using a music editor like audicity, I'm pretty sure you will
be able to split your wav file, although manualy. Having done so,
rename each segment, then use nero to burn the disc,
with no 2second gap.

good luck,

Robby
