2006-01-10 03:58:00 | I had to get my HDD replaced and Win XP reinstalled. Previously I could hear The modem dialling. According to specs it is a 'Planet 56k Internal Modem' How do I get the sounds back or is that something I will have to leave to the technician?. | Pato (2463) | |
2006-01-10 04:16:00 | Recently I had my faulty HDD replaced and Win XP reinstalled. Previously I could hear the modem dialling. How do I restore the dialling noise or is this a job for the technician who built the PC. The specs show the modem as a "Planet 56k Internal Modem". The speaker is switched on!!. | Pato (2463) | |
2006-01-10 04:24:00 | Have a read of this - FAQ #67 - My modem used to make a noise and now it doesn't (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) and see if it helps. :) Note: you do not have to post in both forums, just the appropriate forum for your topic. I have merged your duplicate thread from the Chat Forum into this thread.

2006-01-10 04:27:00 | I think, and as it is a long time since I used Windows I could be wrong but: Right click on Modem in the control panel.Properties and you will get a pointer that you move to adjust the volume of yr dialling sound.

2006-01-10 04:37:00 | Or just double click on the dialup / properties / general / configure button. Tick enable modem speaker. If u use XP. Thats if you're on dialup.

2006-01-10 04:46:00 | Thanks Jen. I should have done that in the first place. Sorry about the duplicate post I didn't think the first one registered. If I can't get that right I don't think I will be able to fix the Modem sound eh?. LOL. It is not the speaker I have checked all the obvious things.

Cheers. |

2006-01-10 04:55:00 | the most comman cause of this is simply you havn't got the correct drivers installed. also did you here the modem dailing from the modem or from the speakers ?

2006-01-10 05:05:00 | Or the hardware installer very nicely and "helpfully" set the configuration string to turn the modem speaker off. A lot of people don't like to hear the dialling sounds. ;) | Graham L (2) | |

The drivers are the same as those installed previously . I am pretty sure that previously I could hear the modem dialing . |
