419500 2006-01-09 23:46:00 How can I mute the case speaker without muting all the other outputs? I want to plug the computer into the stereo, and have the computer volume up full so I don't have to adjust the volume on the stereo when I change between AUX & radio.

The cable is long enough to reach the back of the computer, but not the front so I can't just plug into the headphone jack.

419501 2006-01-09 23:57:00 Open the case and disconnect the speaker in the case .

Altho it comes in handy in case something goes wrong .

Altho, I dont use case speakers in these, coz there's nowhere in the case to put them .

Or go thru Volume control in control panel, and untick PC beep (Dont know if this is for the case speaker or not) . It might be .

I did that once with a soundcard on an old PC, it wasnt too happy, it blew lol .

So, it may or may not be a god idea, turning it up full blast all the time .

Do you mean the one that goes 'beep' only? ie the system speaker. If so you can mute it by opening device manager, clicking view, show hidden devices, open 'Non plug and play devices, view the properties of 'Beep' and on the Driver tab set the startup to 'Disabled' Either press 'Stop' or reboot for the beep to go away....

nope - I'm talking about a propper (but really crappy) speaker that is inside the case somewhere.

I suppose I could try find where it is connected to the motherboard & disconnect it, but I would rather just mute it incase I end up wanting it.

419504 2006-01-10 01:45:00 I think you have to either disconnect it or not.
Its what the BIOS uses to make its beeps for one thing.

Sorry you are likely only left with diconnecting it as it'll just be playing the same sounds coming out your line out connector, which you wont want to mute....

419506 2006-01-10 10:46:00 Unplug it, but if you still want indication replace it for a LED. (might need a resistor on it, I don't know what voltage it provides)

BTW, I just "muted" my pc speaker in sounds and no change. normal speakers still work and so did it.

419507 2006-01-10 21:48:00 small form factor computers are a pain in the ass. The speaker is plugged in under the PSU so I have to go to all the trouble of removing the PSU just so I can unplug the speaker. Greven (91)
419508 2006-01-10 22:23:00 Does this speaker provide the sound when you listen to music? Are you sure you dont have any other speakers, in the monitor? Rob99 (151)
419509 2006-01-10 22:50:00 Yes. this is the speaker that provides the sound when I listen to music. I also have speakers on my monitor, but they are not plugged in because they are just as crap as the case speaker. Greven (91)
