419243 2006-01-08 19:45:00 Hi. I have got a problem with my computer. Every time I switch it on and the desk top appears, there things like norton anti virus, photoshop and may other programs that pops up. I have to wait for up to 5 minutes or so for them to finish and then close them that is when I can start using the computer. How can I get rid of this pain in the neck stuff.

419244 2006-01-08 19:50:00 Get hijackthis (www.merijn.org) from here (www.spywareinfo.com)

Unzip this file into its own folder, and run it. Then scan and copy and paste the log here.

We'll see if u have something nasty.

Or these programs maybe starting on bootup, and need to be removed from the startup menu, or in run in the registry.

419245 2006-01-08 21:40:00 Depending on your operating system, you can go Start/Run/ type in msconfig, and go to the startup tab. There you can disable any unwanted applications from starting when you boot up. Just be sure not to disable your anti-virus and firewall, assuming you have both. Greg (193)
419246 2006-01-08 21:57:00 May want to look in your startup folders. Search your "C" drive (usually), for "startup".

MOVE, don't delete, any shortcuts you don't want in these folders to somewhere else.

419247 2006-01-09 03:46:00 startbutton/run........type in msconfig then tap enter.....then goto the 'startup' tab and Untick whatever you dont want runnin g at system startup drcspy (146)
419248 2006-01-09 09:07:00 A lot of programs will try to run at start-up, so when you're installing, make sure that you look carefully and untick any boxes that say 'launch program at start up' or simular. That should stop the program from popping up when ever you start up (and you get your speed back too, which is always a good thing  )

Sometimes you can go into options and un tick that box in some programs, but it really depends on the program.
