| 419254 | 2006-01-08 09:29:00 | Hey i have a broaband internet and it says it connected at 2.5mb/s. But when i play call of duty online i have a ping of about 250 at non-peak time. Why is it so slow? How do i fix it? BTW i dont have the best comp, go here to see it if you want to see if thats the problem. www.pressf1.co.nz Does Xtra have a speed test i can use. Is it time i give my ISP a call? Cheers |

Is it time i give my ISP a call? Cheers Speed has nothing to do with Ping times. Ping time is how long it takes to get a response back from the server you are pinging. This depends on many things such as how many machines it has to go through, which routes it takes, how much traffice is on the network, etc. Only real way to fix it is to select the server nearest to you. One in NZ if possible. |

| 419259 | 2006-01-08 22:22:00 | Its not much better even on NZ servers. Im on the adventure plan. I play on both NZ and foreign servers with no particular trend. Sometimes Nz is better than US sometimes vice versa. I usally try to find servers with 15 or less players. I frequently run spyware/virus tests and dont usually find anything. And i still have a gig of cap left. Cheers |

I doubt it'll do any good, but perhaps if enough people in your neighbourhood call 'em. they'll do something. The problem with ADSL is that not only do you have to contend with the normal Internet speed problems, but you are competing with your neighbours for a share of the ADSL pipe; it's a shared service. |
