2006-01-13 03:36:00 | I suspect this could be due to Wake on LAN or Wake on Ring. Search through this forum for more information. Cheers :) Maybe, but random restarts would be more likely caused by BSOD errors and automatic restart turned on... Espia, turn automatic restart off so next time there is an error you can see what the problem is.. it shouldnt be too hard to help you then. anyway, to turn it off: click start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> 'advanced' tab -> under 'startup and recovery' click "settings" -> and under 'System failure' uncheck "automatically restart".

2006-01-14 10:12:00 | Do a search *.log to see if any program is saving big log files. Its a good idea to switch off any logs that you dont use. Also turn off System Restore on all drives but C: Ian

2006-01-14 12:30:00 | I checked and what would you classify as big? i found a few over and around 500kb if that's big.. 500kb is big if it's not very old. e.g. since last reboot. Small if months old. open it in a text file and see what it is. Most programs save log files up to a certain age or size and the delete the oldest entrys. Some microsoft logs just grow forever, these are some of the system clogging crud that all windows OS develop, Look for Dr Watson log files I had one once after a BSOD that was over a Gigabyte. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson. May not help your problem but worth a try. Ian

2006-01-15 01:57:00 | Try shutting all backround programs down and see what happens! goto Start>run type "msconfig" and click the startup tab click disable all (make sure you write down what services/programs you have enabled first so you can re-enable them later) apply and restart. Try it out for an hour and see what happens! Then try applying the services you need (the ones you have writen down) back into the startup

After looking again at your HJT Log and the list that SpeedyG gave you, are all those items cleaned out? Some spyware stuff keeps reinstalling itself. Might pay to post your log again. That P4P stuff looks like something dodgy. Do you know what it is? By the way all that data from the BSOD finishes up in the Dr Watson Log ready to send to Microsoft if you click OK. That WILL slow your system down for a while. Ian |
