419603 2006-01-10 04:10:00 I would get Everest or whatever its called.

There's no point in getting Gigabit LAN drivers, if the onboard is only 10/100.

419604 2006-01-10 04:38:00 Thank god for system restore - BSOD on startup every time after installing the gigabit drivers.

I'll get all the drivers off you steve (if you have time to upload them with our pathetic 128k upload - otherwise I'll just get the network driver off you) & burn a drivers CD. I'll pm you my email address

419605 2006-01-10 08:40:00 I'm getting the BSOD on the driver you gave me.

I think that the onboard network card is conflicting with my wireless network card. Any idea how to fix that?

I'll have a hunt around at work tomorrow and see if I can find any more about the drivers....

419607 2006-01-10 09:13:00 looks like it wasn't a conflict problem. I took out the wireless network card, rebooted & installed the driver, but still got the BSOD. Greven (91)

Never use drivers from Windowsupdate.

They'll either screw things up, or make things worse.

I fully agree with you, Speedy.

Just updated the display driver (from MS Windows Update) for this IBM NetVista machine and it really screwed up. I had to do a system restore to put it right!

419609 2006-01-10 11:39:00 Why do people buy comps that don't have driver disks?

because HP is retarded: why should they give you a driver disc when they can make you ring them up and waste your time?? and then try to charge you for sending it to you on 50 floppies

419610 2006-01-10 19:18:00 Most drivers from Windows Update are ok and do the job well.

Just NEVER use graphics or sound drivers from Windows Update

I found this page (www.holmans.com) a few months back - it was this that finally confirmed that the D510 and D51S were the same machine. There is a model key (in blue) not far below the graphics at the top of the page. At the very least it will give you the full specs for the PC you have. You just need the number off the front right hand corner of the case - mine has D51S/P1.8/20/p/256c - meaning it is a D510, small form factor, P4 1.8Ghz, 20GB HDD, XP Pro/W2K dual install, 256MB RAM and a CD -ROM drive. Once you have that info, it makes it a lot easier to find the right drivers. Those drivers I sent you are the ones I loaded on this machine.

419612 2006-01-10 21:53:00 I've contacted HP support & they gave me a couple of links to drivers that I'm sure are the same as the ones you gave me, but I'll try them anyway. They told me to install the chipset drivers first (which I have been doing anyway), but would that really make a difference? Greven (91)
