419758 2006-01-10 07:13:00 I'm trying to load 98se onto my kids computer I've formated the hdd i've got the start up disk and the cd rom but now i'm stuck what needs to be done to the hdd to load the os.all advice will be great thanks.
ps sorry for the dumb question

419759 2006-01-10 07:52:00 It's generally a fairly easy step-through process. First thing... what happens if you insert the disk and restart the computer? It should start the installation process and you just follow the on-screen instructions. Greg (193)

Then type

d:\setup.exe


Where D: is the letter of your cd drive)

It will start........

Sometime it can be tricky to see the CD drive, if you've done this type of boot.

It's usually easier to do one of the following:

* boot from the CD (may require BIOS setting change)
* use the Windows 98 boot floppies, which will load the CD drivers.
