420224 2006-01-12 19:07:00 It is unlikey free hosting provided by an ISP will come with support for FrontPage extensions.

FP extensions are required for many of the features in frontpage to work. Especially older versions.
Hopefully he won't use FP extension features. Seems a waste of course, but when I worked on the helpdesk for a web hosting company at least 50% of the problems our customers had were due to FP extensions. Even using FTP could bugger things up.

420226 2006-01-13 01:04:00 Hi all

Thanks for all the tips. Had a look at Webbase as suggested. I can join their Beyond 1.0 plan which has 100MB webspace, 1GB bandwidth. It has no set-up fee and is $7.95 month + GST. If I order this plan and pay for 6 months in advnace they chuck the domain name in no-charge (normally $39.95 year).

Does this sound like a good deal?

Thanks again.

420227 2006-01-13 01:09:00 FTP would only break FrontPage if the user deletes a folder/files required by FrontPage .

Which I guess is entirely possible . . . . :nerd:

FP extensions are a must if you want to publish via HTTP or use FP features like form to email, banner rotator etc . . .

If not, then you dont need em!

420229 2006-01-13 05:01:00 FP extensions are a must if you want to publish via HTTPUnless you got someting like cPanel. Greg (193)
420230 2006-01-13 05:42:00 Unless you got someting like cPanel.

I meant the feature of FP where you just enter the domain name, login details and hit publish and the entire site is uploaded. Instead of FTP where you select the directory/files etc..

Uploading via a control panel is an option, albiet a slow one.
