| 420859 | 2006-01-13 07:14:00 | Running Windows 98. Following reformatting and reinstalling my printer, it won't print. I checked all connections tried both printer ports(parallel) just in case, but get the same error msg which indicates that there was a problem between the computer and the printer - HP Deskjet 600. I reinstalled the printer through the Add Printer Wizard...still no joy. Went to HP site with the intention of downloading a new driver but the site indicated that I had the most recent driver installed. Printer is ok....I can manually do a test page using the printer buttons, therefore allconnections appear to be in order but cannot do a test print from the computer or print anything at all. Am at a loss as to what to do next. Ideas please? | smurf (6545) | ||
| 420860 | 2006-01-14 00:55:00 | What is the error message? ;) Try copying a text file to the printer, from DOS. copy c:\autoexec.bat LPT1: (if you have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, ;) otherwise make with Notepad, or find, another plain text file). Check the BIOS printer settings. I don't know iwhether a DJ600 needs bidirectional or ECP, or EPP mode, but one of those might help. |

| 420862 | 2006-01-14 07:42:00 | Thank you Graham and Peter. Before I read your posted replies to my query, I reformatted yet once again and this time the printer loaded fine and now prints. I can only assume therefore that their was some corruption in the previous reformat. Thanks again guys. :o | smurf (6545) | ||
