Yeah, I have. But I'm asking about Wikimedia. I thought it would easier to get a quick yes no answer from someone here rather than spend half an hour or so reading. sorry.

421630 2006-01-16 02:11:00 are you refering to sites that use teh wiki technology or sites owned by wikimedia? Mirddes (10)
421631 2006-01-16 04:09:00 That uses wiki technology. JimboJones (1680)
421632 2006-01-16 05:15:00 they can do whatever they want in relation to advertising.
wikimedia on the otherhand is a nonprofit , a big one at that, and relies on donations ratehr than advertising to support themselves.

421633 2006-01-16 07:24:00 lol, I should of had a better queston.

...What I mean is; if I use mediawiki* to make my site. Would I be allowed to put google adsense ads onto it.

The reason I ask is its license is free GNU. But I don't know much about that type of license. All I know is its free to use, but you can't sell it and you have to contribute your modifications of the software.

421634 2006-01-16 08:38:00 Yes, you can put AdSense on a site based on what ever script you like regardless of the script's license. Licenses define how you can distribute and use the script only to the extent of preserving copyright etc, not general use. maccrazy (6741)
