421071 2006-01-15 00:20:00 I'm now cleaning up my old computer before giving it to my sister. Decided to not do a complete reinstall of Windows (ME) as I had some stuff on the computer I wanted left, didn't want to reload software, etc.
How do I get rid of the auto complete entries in the search for files and folders box in the search function? I sorted that for IE no problem, but not sure how to in search.
Not that I ever had any dodgy files I was looking for!!

Hope thats what your talking about!

421073 2006-01-15 02:07:00 I'm not sure about ME, but in XP you can disable autocomplete, then reenable it & it will have deleted the search history Greven (91)
421074 2006-01-15 03:14:00 I had tried highlighting and deleteing. It goes, but is there next time.
I cleared the auto complete in IE and thats fine, but can't find the equivalent uncheck box for the search for files box.

421076 2006-01-15 03:58:00 I've just found a simple fix on the Internet from 2001.
1/ Open the registry editor
2/ Do a search of the registry for one of the auto complete entries
3/ This brings up a list of auto complete entries
4/ Delete all the entries you want to get rid of. Leave "default"
5/ Auto complete now only brings up the values you've left in (if any)
Thanks for your suggestions.
Graham.

421077 2006-01-15 06:23:00 cCleaner should do it. But if not, try this (works for XP)

Right click the Start button, go Properties, Customise, Clear, OK.
