2006-01-14 05:23:00 | I have an issue with the following: New install of 98SE on a TRW-Camaro motherboard (OEM Mitac 5114VU mobo) with Rompaq BIOS. IN Device Manager I am getting this error: System board extension for ACPI Bios (with yellow ! beside it). Click on that and I find: 'This device is causing a resource conflict (Code 15)' etc Go to the resource tab, and I see that there are no conflicts within any memory range. NO other device is showing any error of any sort I see via Google the answer is to disable ACPI in the BIOS Fair enough, easy as; except being a former Compaq (7470 I think) and using a Rompaq BIOS, there is nowhere to turn ACPI off (and rely on APM) Help please

2006-01-14 06:18:00 | There is no PnP option Slight development, installed NIC had a look in device manager, it still says I have an error 15 conflict with the LAN (Realtek, DSE special). IN resources tab it shows up with the red circle in the memory range of the NIC, yet the NIC works perfectly. Is this one of those ignore things??

2006-01-14 07:29:00 | According to the MS site ( . microsoft . com/kb/q125174/" target="_blank">support . microsoft . com) Code 15 This device is causing a resource conflict . (Code 15) To resolve the conflict, click Hardware Troubleshooter and follow the instructions in the wizard . Solution button: Hardware Troubleshooter This code means that the device's resources are conflicting with another device's resources, likely caused by re-enumeration . To resolve this problem, follow the instructions in the Hardware Troubleshooter . In addition, see the "Troubleshooting Conflicting Hardware" topic in Windows 95 Help, or see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Which points here ( . microsoft . com/kb/133240/EN-US/" target="_blank">support . microsoft . com) if you're seeing this: A black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field indicates the device is in a problem state . Note that a device that is in a problem state can be functioning . I wouldnt worry about it . If it works, thats the main thing .

2006-01-14 08:04:00 | This is a socket 7 mobo isnt it?? I found the manual (I think) here (www.motherboards.org) According to the manual, there's a PNP/PCI config option, and a ACPI option. What's the version of the BIOS? According to this site (www.bios-drivers.com) its a compaq 7470? Which is here? (h10025.www1.hp.com)

(h10025.www1.hp.com)I double-checked the download from that site to what I have on the machine already, its the same.. therefore the latest. According to the manual (which I had already) there is A bios with pnp and ACPI configs (which is the one you found - 0904.bin). However when you try to flash this with awdflash, it reports that the bios's are different. Which is to be expected since the 0904.bin file is for the Mitac boards (pre Compaq rebadging and Rompaq-ed) and the Compaq link is for the Rompaq bios. Nice try though :) |

2006-01-14 19:13:00 | Is it possible to overwrite the Rompaq BIOS with the Mitac BIOS, or would it screw the mobo and/or BIOS chip? Bump...

2006-01-14 19:18:00 | Pass. You could try, but unless the mobo supports something like Crashfree BIOS 2 (where u can reflash the BIOS with the mobo CD, if you flash with the wrong BIOS update - Most ASUS mobos support this), it'll kill the BIOS. No BIOS. No system. It'll be useless.
