421384 2006-01-16 13:01:00 IME optical mouses WITH wires work the best. Sure, the wire can get tangled in the millions of other wires hooked up to the computer but it's a lot lighter since you don't have to worry about batteries. aznsk8s87 (9628)
421385 2006-01-16 23:27:00 Infra Red rodents are the latest type of mice and are meant to be more accurate than optical but in most situations you wouldn't notice the difference from an optical mouse and they are still quite expensive.
Personaly I wouldn't bother with a wireless mouse. I have never been in a situation where I have needed to be further away than the wired variety allows me.

421386 2006-01-17 07:49:00 Nooooooo. She is an adult but - she has heaps and heaps of photo's and would like the most precise mouse she can have to edit.
I personally have an Optical for desktop and mini optical for Laptop but she had heard about Infra red and thought she has heaps of work ahead with photo's so may as well have up to date technology.
The 'original mouse' has advanced and will keep advancing - technology does not stand still.
AND she will be buying it herself.

421387 2006-01-17 09:36:00 As we have mentioned earlier, she is probably looking for optical mouse instead of so-called Infra red mouse. The "Infra Red" bit probably means the connection of the mouse to the computer. Hope I have said this correct?

Cheers :)

421389 2006-01-17 21:59:00 These 'rodents' are evolving...so I think get a decent one, one that has great user reviews... Mr Wetzyl (362)
421390 2006-01-18 00:59:00 I think that some people are going to strongly react to my suggestion here, but I have a Mighty Mouse (www.apple.com) and it's great. I'm sure she just means she wants an optical mouse, personally I would stick to wired rather than a wireless Bluetooth or IR solution purely because I find the weight of batteries in a mouse really annoying. :) maccrazy (6741)
421391 2006-01-18 03:04:00 If she is looking for precision for graphic/image editing, then I recommend she get a decent rat of the Logiteck or similar ilk.

I use a Logitech MX1000 (www.logitech.com) laser mouse because I got sick of sloppy rodents poohing up my images. They've come down in price, but still fairly hefty on the wallet (www.pricespy.co.nz) and I doubt they're that compatible with laptop use, being largish rats (essential for control, especially as compared to laptop baby mice), but it, or something similar (like the Logiteck game mice) are the only way to go, IMO.

BTW, these rodents are very comfortable.

421392 2006-01-18 04:00:00 She could try using a mouse pen instead. Do a google on mouse pens. wmoore (6009)
