The retaining clips break very easily.
Then a new motherboard is needed.

421422 2006-01-15 22:25:00 I was more interested to know if any settings are lost during the changeover.
As no one has mentioned this, I'll assume no, there won't be.

Cheers

421423 2006-01-15 22:32:00 Most likely they will be, so you'll have to write everything down (or if your lucky, the printscreen button might do it for you if your printer is on LPT1 and compatible) Agent_24 (57)
421424 2006-01-16 02:17:00 Thanks Agent,

So any idea which settings I should write down...
...am unsure as to what LPT1 is....

Do I dive into the bios to find them ?, or look elsewhere ?

421425 2006-01-16 03:04:00 I mean a printer connected to the parallel port of the computer

yes, all the settings you need are in the bios setup... you will want to write pretty much all of them down except for things like the date/time

If u know what they all do then there is no need to write them down, but otherwise a record of them is a good idea.

421426 2006-01-16 04:44:00 The memory require such a small amount of energy to hold the settings that they will usually survive a half minute or so of no battery. But there's always a chance of losing settings. The battery is mainly for the clock. The clock will stop when the battery is out. (I would be surprised if the "CMOS" memory in the later BIOS packages isn't actually EEPROM, rather than CMOS. If it is, it would be non-volatile.) Graham L (2)
421427 2006-01-16 05:30:00 Thanks once again....

Agent..I have a usb printer, but now I know what LPT1 denotes...cheers

Graham..no doubt I will find out whether its cmos or EEPROM once I get into the bios, thanks for pointing that out.

I don't mind doing a bit of scribing...
mmm,...now was I left or right handed.

A digital camera might save a lot of writing.

What a cool idea, I've got a good camera, so I'll give it a try.

Cheers
