421303 2006-01-15 07:22:00 I have been playing with a MP3 recorder - I want to convert the voice file format of .act into .mp3.

I have found www.geocities.com for MS Windows but prefer to work in Linux (I have to if I am going to use my own PC although there are other Windows PCs in the household). I have not tried this program - I will do as a last resort!

I found a Linux script called "audio-convert" and have this installed so it runs from the main menu in GNOME Nautilus. The file conversion seems to happen (there are no error messages) but I end up with "noise" that lasts only for a fraction of the time of the original recording - almost as if it is playing far too fast?

Is there someone with experience in these matters in Linux?

Thanks.

Suffering from a mild form of disallusionment I tried the MS Windows tool mentioned above - it also shortened the file when converted to MP3 with the same resulting noise as with the Linux script!
