421993 2006-01-17 09:23:00 Greetings. This might seem pretty easy for most of you all, but I am a complete novice towards Outlook 2003. I have already added my Hotmail and my Gmail account to Outlook. How do I tell them to synchronise with their respective mail server without downloading all the attachments come along with each mail? I want something like in a webmail whereby the attachments are only downloaded and viewed when the e-mail that contains it is clicked. At the moment, Outlook seems to be trying to download >100MB of mail from Gmail. :waughh: :waughh:

Cheers and thanks :)

421994 2006-01-17 09:34:00 You can't download the message without the attachment.
You can elect to download headers only but that won't be much use to you.
You had better stick with webmail.

pretty sure you cant dowload an e-mail without the attrachment coming too,
however you could use free software like eprompter, which will show your
e-mails on the server, there you can peruse, and delete before downloading
to outlook.

cheers,

Robby

Can I disable downloading of attachments along with new messages in Outlook Express 6? How do I prevent the loading of Windows Messenger whenever I launch OE?

Cheers :)

I don't think attachments can be detached from emails on the server, James . Eudora and I think Thunderbird separate the attachments into different folders but only after they have been downloaded, not before .

As far as Gmail goes, they are very firmly married to each other so unless you can somehow separate them in Gmail itself I'm afraid you will be out of luck .
