| 421958 | 2006-01-17 10:48:00 | Also its technically illegal, as with the clear case it has absolutely no RF suppression, therefore it is almost certain to contravene the international EMC standards that apply in NZ (BS EN 50081-1:1992), unless you have had it tested and approved by a Laboratory. | godfather (25) | ||

| 421962 | 2006-01-17 19:53:00 | so how come they sell these clear cases then?? Because the sale of a case is not illegal, but have you ever seen a brand name manufacturer selling them built-up (as they have to conform to the Standards by law)? Why can you buy bike racks for tow-bars of cars, when in most cases they (or the bikes) partially obscure a number plate ($150 instant fine, it's illegal to block the view of the plate)? It's also generally illegal to fit a bull-bar to a light vehicle (SUV etc) that is first registered after Feb 2003, but you can buy the bull-bar. The list goes on ... But I would not want to live close to someone using a PC in an unshielded case, I may as well throw my communications receiver away, as it would raise the noise floor quite a lot. |
