im planning to get a 6600GT 128mb AGP but I was wondering whether my 350W PSU is up to the task. i dont have many components in my computer; only 1 HDD, 1 DVD burner, 2 sticks of RAM, cpu, mobo and a modem. im on a very tight budget, under NZ$300. i dont really want to buy a new PSU as I havent installed any PSU's in the past. any ideas? |

That will greatly depend on what type of CPU you have and what brand your PSU is (is it an el cheapo type or something good like enermax??) |

You'll need to provide more details about your power supply, but its probably should be fine. Just because the system will boot and play some games doesnt nessesarily means its fine. |

My cpu is an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton Core) and my psu brand is Raidmax (same as my case). |

It would appear that raidmax is not one of the good types... you might have some problems with it but maybe not... if there is a problem you'll get bluescreen errors or the drivers will notify you that the card is not getting sufficient power |

thanks everyone for the replies. ive just got a radeon x700 256mb AGP and it works flawlessly although i ran into a few bumps during installation. i can now get very respectable frame rates in graphically intense games such as FEAR which were previously almost unplayable. again thnx everyone. |
