422391 2006-01-19 02:48:00 I have used Ctrl/Alt/Del for years to see what my computer is up to. But suddenly Ctrl/Alt/Del no longer works. Absolutely nothing happens. What have I done? How do I get the thing back?

422392 2006-01-19 02:53:00 Sometimes if this doesnt work, it may mean u have a trojan or some other nasty which has disabled it.

See if regedit works. If it doesnt then something has disabled it as well.

422393 2006-01-19 03:13:00 I agree with Speedy Gonzales. I assume you've already tried another keyboard.

Ctrl-Alt-Del is a high-priority interrupt, so if it's not working, something bad's likely to have happened.

422394 2006-01-19 03:14:00 Does it still not work after a reboot? FoxyMX (5)
422395 2006-01-19 04:07:00 Maybe he's trying to reboot through Ctrl/Alt/Del. :D Graham L (2)

Well you have been oblivious to half the stuff that goes on then. Once you've used a very good 3rd party process viewer you become enlightened to how much stuff Windows hides from you.

422397 2006-01-19 04:51:00 Yes I agrree but it's still a quick and easy way to see if something has started running that you don't want to/don't know about. mark c (247)
422398 2006-01-19 04:57:00 Probably like me, Tom long ago acquired the habit of using Ctrl/Alt/Del not to find out what was going on, but to stop whatever was going on. It was the step before the big red key marked "ON/OFF". Graham L (2)
422399 2006-01-19 06:04:00 I'm not on my box at the moment and aren't sure if it was Windows or Linux but I remember a setting to disable Ctrl/Alt/Del mikebartnz (21)
422400 2006-01-19 06:42:00 If you are running Windows XP, try applying the following keys to launch Windows Task Manager: Ctrl + Shift + Escape. Perhaps (highly unlikely) the keys on the keyboard are stuck?

Cheers :)
