422174 2006-01-18 08:24:00 Hello All

All over Press F1 people recommend Kerio Firewall & I am wondering how does it come per to zone alarm? I.e. how secure is it?

Does its pass all the tests on grc.com?

How easy is it to use?

Does it take up many resources?

Thanks :)

422175 2006-01-18 08:32:00 been a while since i've used it. compared to ZA free it certainly users kess resources and has some good features. however like most rule based firewalls its harder to use than ZA's simple "yes/no". i'm not sure about the later vers, they may have auto rule creation which a lot of rule based firewalls have put in.

also check out the sygate firewall if its still going. als ooutpost is not to bad either.

422177 2006-01-18 12:02:00 It's more complex than ZA, but imo superior. Greg (193)
422178 2006-01-18 20:59:00 With the right configuration Kerio passes grc.com leak test. Mine passes them all but if you use simple mode rather than advanced mode installation, some people have to set permissions from 'permit' to 'ask' to pass the test.If you need help the Kerio fora are still working and give those configs:

Sygate was purchased by Symantec and apparently, they're canning it.
I've always been happy with Kerio and the new Sunbelt version works well too.
Happy days to all
