422700 2006-01-26 22:18:00 Just a quick tidy-up post on this thread - I took the computer to Infinite Technology in Ngaurange Gorge, Wellington, and they were really good - friendly, non-patronising (often a problem with computer places if you're an old bag, I find - I often resort to getting my daughter to paint her face and come with me to computer places and garages), good communicators, and very reasonable charges. I'd recommend them. annie (6010)

Was it a replacement PSU that fixed the problem?

422704 2006-01-27 07:57:00 hahah hehehe replacing a powersupply is probably one of the easiest jobs in a pc.........generally its four screws in the back holding it in there and pull out all the plugs........

Umm... Is a plug the same as a connector? (sic)

You forgot to say how to put the PSU back in and knowing which connectors plug where. No motherboard info was supplied in the original post. Some motherboards need not only the 24 pin connector, plug, connection or whatever but they may need a four pin power as well. Some video cards will need extra power as well.

I don't know what the power connector is called that goes from the PSU to the MOBO, a description is enough IE 24 pins.

Yes, I know you brought this up pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

Yes, a connector is something that plugs into something else and FITS.

Well I would think so.

Try fitting a 754 pin cpu into a socket A (462) motherboard.

I am pleased that annie found the help needed in spite of our efforts.

Also I would like to know what the solution was.
