422376 2006-01-20 05:02:00 Features were removed and no I have not kept a list of them, as why would I keep track and a list of a long ago dumped programme.
IF features were removed from ZA it would be my guess that they would have been advanced features used by the "geeky" population rather than the general masses whom are ZA free version's main users.

It is common for developers to offer more advanced features in the paid version of their programs in order to (hopefully) encourage the geeks to purchase the advanced version for these extra features. It certainly isn't something unique to ZA.

Peterj116, what was your outcome for this query?

422377 2006-01-20 06:50:00 yeah my menory is fairly scatchy, i think ZA pro came out in 2000 (afaik). sorry i didn't use ver 1, i started at ver 2.1

i hope your not complaining that ZA went from being free to a cut down free ver and a fully featured paid ver are you, as that would be really lame. just like a few people who hate certain companies products because their free ver is minus a certain feature (applies to quite a few products).

mind you on a side note (not directed at any particular person) has anyone noticed that a lot of the other feature full firewalls that people have mentioned, the companys have been sold. mind you if you make a free ver with all the features why would anyone buy the pro ver, so it not to supriseing really :(

Oh, I discovered the wonderful world of Firefox plugins.

Using Bork Bork Bork (addons.mozilla.org) , which not only translates pages into Swedish Chef speak (Muppets) but also has an option to block specified url's

Ofcourse not but why stay with a product that, at that time, was loosing features when other companies were starting to use the business model of free for personal use (which is great for driving business uptake through evangelical employees) or the less successful model of producing a free programme and charging for all your others (people get to know the free programme and ignore everything else).

The end result is a fully featured professional programme.

I see the crux of our dissagreement and the upshot is that you didn't know the programme at the time I did.

So I trust we can leave the specious assumptions out of things?

Remember the old yoplait advert? "no sir I do not love reeding and comprehension"

I said the less successful model was a company offering one of their programmes free in the hopes that people will stick arround for the others :p

"then what do you love about school?"
"lunch"

p . s . There was a time when everyone I knew used ZA . . .
