422584 2006-01-20 03:03:00 You *could* make your own patched Windows XP disc by downloading all of the hotfixes and nLite (http://www.nliteos.com). This program will integrate the hotfixes onto your Windows disc, and will even slipstream SP2 onto it. This is legal AFAIK and highly recommended. Haze (3028)

422586 2006-01-20 04:48:00 Not into mucking about with my box, what about an external hard drive?

Thanks all for info, you can rest assured I will do the wrong thing.
I will get it in about another 5 years.
Geez Cic, don't be such a wimp.

If you can get your head around creating your own patched Windows disc I am sure you would have no trouble with kingdragonfly's suggestion of installing a new hard drive. Even I can do it. ;)

Not so much a wimp Foxy, just not interested in what is inside the box, other than it is fast and can tolerate my mucking about .
Prefer it to boats .

422590 2006-01-20 06:33:00 I can see a problem here. Cic's head is full of right wing fancies, yet if he actually gets his hands dirty and get inside his box, then he will become a worker. Horror of horrors for one of right wing persuasion.

So he is Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea (www.redhotjazz.com)

I like the theory, apart from the fact, that at the moment I am covered in dust from making furniture.
Now Terry who has been a public servant since he has been out here, wants to learn what its like in the real world, where if you do the wrong thing you go down.
That sounds a bit tough,it's not meant to be.As the yanks would say, just joshing.

422592 2006-01-20 07:01:00 Well, I needed a tame excuse to quote the tune I was listening to on Live365.

Now when you have XP all up and going properly dont forget to install Real Alternative so that you can listen to the musical gems I offer from time to time
