| 422455 | 2006-01-20 02:27:00 | Okay I think some people are getting the wrong idea. I dragged My Documents from My Computer to the desktop and now want to get it back. I can already make shortcuts of it to my desktop but I want to have it back in My Computer folder. ~Matt :-) |

| 422457 | 2006-01-20 02:43:00 | Sorry, I made a mess of editing my last one, and lost a few words. There seem to be several icons in different places which point to "My Documents", but there is only one physical directory. My first suggestion was that you might have somehow given that icon in your "My Computer" the hidden attribute. That's just a "maybe". If you can navigate to the physical directory which contains your actual "My Documents" directory, you should be able to make a shortcut and place it in your "My Computer". As I said, I think the place to look is "C:\Documents and Settings\Adminstrator". That will also contain other directories belonging tot he Administartor user ... including Desktop, My Computer ... even though you might have navigated to it from your Desktop>My Computer> C Disk>Documents and Settings>Adminstrator ... It's all very confusing. :groan: (Calling directories "folders" as if they have some physical form does not help). Copy and Paste on a working icon which points to "My Documents" also ought to work. |

If you drag the %username%'s documents folder anywhere, it just creates a shortcut & leaves the folder in my computer alone. Also, I can't drag anything to my computer. I tried setting the hidden attribute on my my documents folder, but it still showed up in my computer even when I turn off viewing hidden files (if I go to the actual path, I can't see it without show hidden files enabled but it is always visible in my computer). You have a really wierd problem and I have no idea what caused it. |
