1396894 2015-03-21 21:24:00 I'm wanting to buy a blueray player. I have the Sony S5200 for $197 in mind. Does anyone have any recommendations? Bryan (147)
1396895 2015-03-22 00:01:00 You may as well get this for that price (www.noelleeming.co.nz). Its a 3D player / fm radio. Has bluetooth and you can play from a USB flash drive

Has 5 speakers, and it's 1000W.

And it's wireless / has wifi built in

Dont know if the player you want has speakers. But I cant see anything about it having speakers on the Sony site

Altho I dont think the E2100 has mirroring

1396896 2015-03-22 02:27:00 If you are interested in lightbox at all a samsung Blu-ray with smart hub like this one www.noelleeming.co.nz will let you do that. Someone on Geekzone bought this exact model and apparently it works really well. dugimodo (138)
1396897 2015-03-22 07:09:00 Yeah I've got the H6500 too, I think I paid around $190 on promo. Works well with apps and bluray. Alex B (15479)
1396898 2015-03-22 20:50:00 Does your TV have HDMI inputs ? it should have unless it quite old .

Is this going to be plugged into the TV only ...or.....
Are you going to plug it into a Amplifier for surround/stereo ? If so , make sure the Bluray outputs are compatible with any amplifier you want to use.

1396899 2015-03-23 10:13:00 Must admit I'm confused about this "Smart tv" stuff.

Does that mean the TV has a built-in browser? And as above, the Samsung blueray player also has the same browser?

What about Chrome cast? Or a Samsung USB dongle assuming such a thing exists?

Are these things any different or better than a wireless or HDMI connection from a laptop/tablet to the TV? Indeed how do we connect wirelessly to a TV which doesn't have wifi?

A few days ago after some fumbling and playing about with settings, managed to connect the lappie via HDMI and watch the NZ v WI game. Awful picture but good enough to enjoy. So I can see possibilities.

1396900 2015-03-23 12:38:00 Hi Winston,

Just imagine an oversized tablet with TV functions, that's basically a smart TV.

TVs without it but still newish you can add HDMI devices to it. I have an Apple TV gen 2, which serves my purpose for streaming movies to the TV over WiFi but I would go with android TV if I was to pick one.

I still got a boxed Chromecast that I am yet to try out, but again, my usage is for streaming but in this case, I want to delve deeper into the source of it.

I guess if a web browser is provided (free) then I would make more use of it and would use a Bluetooth keyboard as remote would be slow, unless you got an android TV, which on the back of their remote is a keyboard.

There are still lots of apps provided that allows you to watch videos from lots of locations, including YouTube and Netflix, etc.

I usually connect my laptop up though to watch live streams, but a TV with a web browser would fit the bill.

Cheers,

KK
