1396590 2015-03-17 17:25:00 Hi all,

Does MySky+ use/need a network connection?

Also are all channels only SD without the "HD Ticket"? Or are we talking 720 vs 1080?

Cheers,
Mike.

1396591 2015-03-17 19:34:00 Doesn't need a network connection but plans are afoot for using it soon.

About the only thing a HD ticket does is get you higher def sports. NOT needed IMHO. Other progs that are HD come through in HD without the 'ticket'.

Save yourself $15 - you can always buy it later of you really think it is worth it.

Yeah probably won't bother with the HD :) I'm going for as cheap as possible.

Cheers,
Mike.

1396593 2015-03-17 20:24:00 HD changes it from 720p to 1080i as far as I know.
A lot of people prefer the standard.

1396594 2015-03-17 21:02:00 HD changes from 480p or 576i to 1080p for SoHo, The Zone, Sport, Movies. Once you have watched sport in high def, there is no going back. Free to air channels are not quite HD but close (to free up some band witch for their other HD offerings). Is it a rip off to have to pay extra for it? Yes. Would I be without it now? No way.

See this thred re: Free Sport/Movies/MySky for a year. www.geekzone.co.nz - I pay $58 per month for mysky with sport/movies and HD ticket.

You can send remote recordings to the box, but it does it over the satellite rather than over the internet.

1396595 2015-03-18 01:37:00 They don't do 1080p last I read. Only 1080i. It's plausible that it changes the output between TV <-> MySky device to 1080p, but it's always only ever interlaced AFAIK at 1080p, or progressive at 1280x720. Chilling_Silence (9)
