1384780 2014-09-26 07:42:00 Wonder what he is up to ? I am sure an honorable person would just say sorry and resign. Bloody lucky he didn't end up as Prime Minister because he has in my opinion the leadership abilities of a retarded wombat. I am getting really annoyed at the moment as it now looks like Robertson is not going to be elected as leader of the commie labor party. Please God if you exist make it so Robertson is the the next leader of the labor party so we can watch another election slaughter in 2017.
Please God.

1384781 2014-09-26 08:08:00 Please... don't be rude about retarded wombats!! at least they are nice and cuddly. Even if, because of their shape, it is hard to tell which way they are going.

Well said, he's in complete contrast to the current Prime Minister who does not have the leadership abilities of a retarded wombat . ;)

1384785 2014-09-26 13:21:00 I'm surprised you disrespect John Key so harshly R2x1 when he is exponentially liked by most New Zealanders way beyond any other politician. Forget the polls, the election itself gave John Key and the National Party the government benches. You may not like that but the guy has benign leadership ability from his socks up.

Leaving that aside, the problem for David Cunliffe is he lacks the common touch. Humility. That is made evident by his sliding away from taking responsibility for Labour's worst electoral result since 1922. Politics is harsh. The right thing to do (even if it is unfair) is to resign and take the loss on the chin. Helen Clark did exactly that.

Its unfair in the sense that the Labour Party have lost their connection with the ordinary Kiwi and it isn't Cunliffe's fault but when you are at the top, you have to take the fall for the greater good.

National were almost irrelevant in the early 2000s and there was commentator speculation the party would fade away. It could have. I do not think Labour will fade (hope not) but they have a lot to do to relevant to the average kiwi.

Did he? Made a joke as far as I can see.

And just because he is liked by a lot has zilch to do with his character.
I could mention a certain german who won his election some time ago and look how he turned out.

1384787 2014-09-26 21:37:00 I didn't make the joke, Key's parents did . Sugar is enormously popular, yet it undermines the health of millions when taken to excess . Perhaps we have already had more damage under Key than we can comfortably recover from . Liberties are being eroded at a pretty fast pace and that is very difficult to reverse when the administration is motivated almost entirely by greed and expediency .
We (almost) all lamented the "nanny state", but it is increasing ever faster, just take the attitude of the Police to increased surveillance and monitoring ~ for them more is better . Meanwhile their high pay group is in a frenzy of self-serving selective statistics in support of "goals" as they increasingly assume that the front line section must never, ever, utilise experience or (prophet forbid) common sense .
This same attitude is stronger in the security service, who assume they alone are to be the judge of our morals and goals .
Local Bodies assume the power to decide what and how we build our houses, demanding a flood of paperwork and compliance certificates so those who know nothing of the physical processes can veto at whim the actions of those who do know how to carry out the actions . For the ultimate examples of this attitude we have a rapidly growing nest of obstructionist decrees spewing from OSH as they pump out the plattitudes while they seek to justify and expand their influence .
That is only local influences, our international moral stance and independence is being traded for messes of potage by the bauble seekers and persons of severely restricted vision as exemplified by Key, Collins, Brownlee, Slater . . and so on ad nauseam .
Incidentally, could it be that Key would be liked "In-Po" rather more than "Ex-Po-"nentially?

1384788 2014-09-26 21:57:00 I didn't make the joke, Key's parents did.

My understanding is that Key’s Birth Certificate is actually an apology from a condom manufacturer. ;)
