1385270 2014-10-11 19:55:00 I'm sorry Gary, but you haven't got a clue as to what I like or dislike - just like I don't have of you :( Zippity (58)
1385271 2014-10-12 07:31:00 Based on previous posts in this thread and others if the cap fits.

I'll quit this thread no before I get banned for telling home truths that people don't like.

Without getting nasty like you clearly seem happy to do, all I will say is that it's quite obvious you don't know what the truth is and would rather go off on some hate tangent, instead of coming to the party to offer some constructive suggestions as to how the traffic control could be done better and more fairly, rather than of going after vehicle drivers with fines.

1385272 2014-10-12 20:54:00 Just an interesting observation yesterday.

While going into town, along the Motorway ingoing, I counted at least 15 different people on bikes, there were two types, ones that ride 2-3 across sometimes drifting onto the left lane of cars doing the speed limit and the others single file. Not one of them actually used the designated cycle path.

Then while out on the main road in karori, again two types, quite a few people on bikes. Again the ones that ride single file and stay reasonably to the left on the road, mums and dads with kids on actual cycle ways, and if they did have to go onto the road very careful to look at what was coming.

Then the ones that -well lets say are the problems, ironically the ones that were riding in the middle of the road holding everything up, or weaving in and out, both had cams on their helmets -- HMMMMMMMMMM, then on the way out, 3 times different riders, while the traffic lights were red and cars stopped, went right though, one didn't even slow down, and almost got collected by a legally coming through the intersection car. Once there were actually a few people on bikes stopped at the lights, and this other idiot weaved past them. :groan:

What was the most scary, was coming down Glenmoore St, theres a speed box, ( tells you what speed you are doing) most of the cars in the queue were doing 49 -52 -- Some clown with a Cam on his helmet ( different one to above) flew past everyone like there was no tomorrow.

None of the above is "having a go" at people on bikes, its facts that some of them are asking for trouble, most generally are fine with cars and visa versa.

No the cyclist was a dick. But I remember from a few comments back someone saying that cyclists with a camera on board are spoiling for fight, or something like that. Does that mean the car was?

1385276 2014-10-16 22:49:00 Looks to me like a classic case of “Two Fools Met” .

But oh the irony .

We’ve got dick-heads thinking they can legislate against this nonsense . :crying

Take a look at the photo .

They are the sole occupants of a three lane one-way road and there still isn’t enough room for both of them!

Honestly, neither of them should be allowed out without a minder .

1385277 2014-10-16 22:57:00 It sure sounds like the cyclist in that story was the worse of the two, but if the car hit his rear wheel no matter what he was doing he's at fault. Following distances are the responsibility of the vehicle behind. Chasing the guy down to tell him he's being a dick (paraphrasing) was never going to end well, the motorist ended up adding to the problem in this case and getting assaulted (well allegedly to be politically correct).

This story reads to me like a total idiot of a cyclist being aggravated by a slightly lesser idiot of a motorist and getting violent. both sound at fault but especially the cyclist. And again a camera is involved, what is it with cameras and idiots. If you see someone doing something stupid on the road and feel the need to do something about it then report it, getting personally involved is only going to get you in trouble. Of course in some cases there is a need to do something but I don't think this is one of them.

1385278 2014-10-17 00:21:00 I saw a funny one yesterday, while in town, the traffic came to a halt for several minutes, there were two guys on bikes peddling up the slight hill ( sounds like the start of a joke :) ). One of them stopped got off and ran across the road and started again on the footpath.---OK.

The second one, came to a stop, and rested his front wheel against a car bumper - he wasn't that good at balancing, had both feet on the pedals, hands digging around in both pockets looking for something I suspect, still just sitting there.
He wasn't paying attention obviously, the line of cars started moving again, and he almost arsed off sideways as his support suddenly drove off. I dont think the car driver knew he was doing it. But it did look damn funny --- The look on the bike guys face was almost WTF--
