1384750 2014-09-26 05:12:00 I use tunein app and ice cast on android and pc, in addition to 1000's of tracks on my usb connect to car stereo. But with streaming from radio stations, can discover music which will never or rarely be played on NZ stations. Example - found good euro/techno/club beat type music from countries like Poland, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway, etc.

Also can stream tech podcasts (including PC World NZ), news, and USA emergency callouts, etc.

Does spotify do podcasts, news streams, etc rather than music?

1384751 2014-09-26 05:18:00 No, unless someone has made an app within spotify to do so. icow (15313)
1384752 2014-09-26 07:17:00 I too use Tunein. I tried Pandora but didn't like the feeling of "no anchor". With Tunein I can look up the website and see what has just been played, the program segment, presenter, etc

I also tried "rolling my own" (as one is forced to do in the car). I found that I didn't like my own choice of music, was always saying to myself Now why did I include THAT?

There's something about a live radio station, with presenter's patter, stuff-ups, and a lot of ad-hoc/ad-lib that's very forgiving and I can listen to it all day

I listen to tune in radio too! That is another source of my fav songs. But, Spotify takes me way back to the 60s , when I was 16 and defying the parents by listening to music I liked, late at night on my old transistor radio, under the covers with a torch, so I could see how to get the stations! (almost tears in eyes, when I remember those days!)

1384754 2014-09-26 10:27:00 Same here, I used to listen to Radio Lourenço Marques on my transistor radio whenever I could. A 24 hour rock music station broadcasting the latest music to the southern countries of Africa. South Africa (RSA), Southern Rhodesia and Northern Rhodesia (Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland) where I was.

The 60's were a great time to be young and free, wish I could go back to then. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ୧༼ ͡◉ل͜ ͡◉༽୨

1384755 2014-09-26 11:59:00 Been using it for about a year, went to the premium version about 2 months ago. Decent service and the support across all platforms is really good. Saving songs to local devices is also a cool feature.

Only gripe would be that there is still plenty of bands missing from it, but from what I've read there's no one to blame for that except the artist themselves...for example "Tool". Worth the $12 a month anyway though.

1384756 2014-09-26 13:42:00 Unfortunately Tool sees an album as a single form of art not multiple pieces therefore do not like the idea of having it split up. Fair enough (although I would like to see them on spotify). icow (15313)
1384757 2014-09-27 00:16:00 I use the Last.fm scrobbler on what I currently have, to give me new artist suggestions. Seems to work pretty well. Agent_24 (57)
