1397238 2015-03-26 00:05:00 I don't think I want a micro-ATX board. I've got a tower case, so I have the space, and I find those boards just a bit too cramped.

Any preference between Intel and AMD? I've tended to have AMD up till now, mainly because of price, but I could easily be persuaded to change.

1397239 2015-03-26 00:42:00 Intel are better in terms of IPC and efficiency but for many people that doesn't matter. Myself I'd go intel but AMD is fine too.
Intel - more performance and better efficiency
AMD - Lower price and better integrated GPU in the APU's

If you go for an APU you definitely won't need a graphics card but in every other respect I would still recommend intel.

1397240 2015-04-20 22:15:00 I haven't posted for a while because I didn't want to be accused of being indecisive. :)

This is what I have ended up with:

Mobo:
www.ascent.co.nz

CPU:
www.ascent.co.nz

Memory:
www.pbtech.co.nz

All I have to do now is put it together.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

1397244 2015-04-22 04:23:00 I've used PBtech on and off for a long time for all sorts of bits and pieces and never had a problem with them. ...

They used to be good but had quite a nasty experience with their Penrose branch about a month ago. Won't go back to them again, at least the Penrose branch.

Are they franchised? They seem to be individually managed.

For this exercise I actually went through a young friend of mine who is working in their support area, so it was all done online. He got me a good price and free delivery, too.
