A company this big, and a release this important to them, yet they cant get their public statements in order ...... so who knows what the truth will actually be when the time comes. :groan: Does this mean that if you u/g a pirated version, it will simply stop working after 30days (ie after the usual trial period) ? Does this mean that MS simply cant detect which PC's are genuine/pirate before the upgrade process ? Note "may be able" , thats a turn-around from the previous statement , or is it just tech sites misrepresenting MS's public statements ? "With Windows 10, although non-Genuine PCs may be able to upgrade to Windows 10, the upgrade will not change the genuine state of the license. Non-Genuine Windows is not published by Microsoft. It is not properly licensed, or supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner. If a device was considered non-genuine or mislicensed prior to the upgrade, that device will continue to be considered non-genuine or mislicensed after the upgrade. " |

| 1396775 | 2015-03-23 04:37:00 | Chill ;) the public statements are in order Microsoft can't control what the press write in articles . Microsoft never said it was a free license for pirates, that was the press . Free Win10 for pirates makes great click bait for headlines . Of course Microsoft can tell whether Windows has been pirated or not . |
