Copying files is fine the first time but gets more complex after that when the copy keeps coming up with endless messages asking about overwriting or skipping the files that are already there. So now they have to create unique sub-folders and use those........ And my photographer has 200GB and 27,000 files to copy! And her nice USB3 2TB backup drive had no files that were supposed to have been written by the Vista Backup on a weekly schedule. Oh, dear. Luckily the HDD hadn't crashed. That's it - I'm done. |

She should know better than to rely on digital copies if she is a photographer. She should print them, easy to make copies of professional prints.. |

| 1396548 | 2015-03-17 20:05:00 | Taught all my customers to use an external drive and copy/paste. Or Syncback if they want more automation. Why not a set and forget backup software? They keepo versions, and generally can backup to multiple locations. Out of the box they generally backup the Users folder (or home for linux) |

Effie c Is it Ok for you to loose all new doc/data/email/photos that you created in that month ? (if there was a meltdown, requiring data recovery) For some its no big deal, for others it would be a disaster to loose the last months work. I havnt backed up my home PC for over a year. If I lost a years stuff it wouldnt really matter . |

| 1396551 | 2015-03-17 23:53:00 | I've been using Second Copy for years now.All files I want to protect are then copied to 2 other hard drives in the pc. Only problem is if the original file gets corrupted,then all the backups are too! So I still do the odd file manually.And have 3 images (Active@) stored of C drive. |

Effie c No. An image is not really a backup. Think of it as a photocopy of the O/S. Backups are what you do with data - photos, docs, all that sort of thing. Backups should be done regularly. Images are another matter. |
