1384740 2014-09-26 02:21:00 I have about 600 tunes on my Sony player ranging from Tom Lehrer (who? they ask) to Rachmaninov and all in between that I love. Takes me so long to run through them all that it is all fresh when I have to start again.

1384741 2014-09-26 02:36:00 The only catch with that is that your own collection can get a bit repetitive if you don't update it ;)

Checked the directory, 4577 songs. At a conservative 3 mins each that's 228 hours. If I listened to 8 hours of music every day it would take a month to get through it and have it repeat. At a more realistic 1-2 hours a day (which is still excessive for me) it's over 6 months. I don't find it repetitive.

1384743 2014-09-26 04:07:00 Also mobile data still costs too much and when I'm at home on Wi-fi I don't use the phone to listen to music.

For the record spotify can save music for offline playback.

1384744 2014-09-26 04:13:00 Because of my limited internet connection, I haven't tried Spotify, but would use Jango (on firefox with adblocker so every third song wouldn't be an ad) a couple of years ago. Anyone else tried that? the_bogan (9949)

Cool feature, except doesn't that negate the whole point of spotify? Also it's kinda a default feature of the phone even without spotify I already have my music stored for offline playback :p I have no problem with anyone liking and using spotify, I just personally have no use for it.

It doesn't negate it it just makes it more convenient.

1384747 2014-09-26 04:21:00 Each to their own, I was just pointing out that not having mobile data doesn't make spotify completely useless as a service. icow (15313)

You will eventually though. Using my Ipod my shuffle/random generally gets reset after about 30 hours play time, even with 11,000 songs I still occasionally long for some new stuff to listen to. and thats listening to Metal/new age/country/rock.
