They will just have to buy a new unit whether it is a simulated phone, a simulated computer or a mock-up watch. Remember, the spending is a major part of the aPple eXperience, they are used to it, and they demand it.
At least it keeps them off the streets. ;)

It means your data is more secure and if you do have something incriminating on it for whatever reason they can't get it unless you are stupid enough to provide the password.

If you have something incriminating and they know it, who's going to be on the receiving end of whatever methods they use to get your password? Won't be Apple, if their encryption is as good as they claim.

Plus, there will certainly be a fair few idiots who lose their files, as inphinity said.

There is still the law and evidence obtained by "strong arm" tactics is still inadmissible in court
All you need to do is exercise your right to remain silent and wait for your lawyer.

You have the right to remain silent. You do not have to make any statement. Anything you say will be recorded and may be given in evidence in court. You have the right to speak with a lawyer without delay and in private before deciding to answer any questions. Police have a list of lawyers you may speak to for free.

But you are right about the morons that lose their passwords.

That might be true here, but I imagine it may not be the same in all countries.
