| 1396912 | 2015-03-22 08:59:00 | Hey there So my parentals have requested a new pc for emails (their current one is 9 years old, slow as hell and cost them 2.3k). I used to be well into the pc parts world but have since lost interest after building a my rig(s). I was looking at this CPU (www.pcforce.co.nz) and this MOBO (www.pcforce.co.nz) and have read that some of the refresh(?) haswell processors don't play nice with some MOBOs (or something to that effect). Does anyone know if these will play nicely? Cheers in advanced |

If you buy from the same supplier maybe they could flash it for you if needed All you do is search the model number, find it on asus website, click support, cpu support, read the list. | 1396914 | 2015-03-22 18:57:00 | The mobo would have to support USB flashback, if the mobo doesn't have the right BIOS on it. So you can flash it Or ask whoever you buy it from, to update the BIOS before they send it |

| 1396918 | 2015-03-23 00:35:00 | i would suggest a celeron and a cheaper board. so much performance these days. you coudl upgrade just the mobo/cpu/ram/ssd and have a very nice pc for them for less than $400 |

| 1396919 | 2015-03-23 00:59:00 | Given the last one went for 9.5 years I think it's worth getting better than a celeron personally. Even modern hardware can show it's limitations at times, I have an A4-4000 dual core CPU that I had to (well ok decided to) replace because it wouldn't play lightbox streams smoothly (anyone want a cheap dual core FM2 CPU ?). I think streaming HD is becoming a fairly standard function these days. That said a cheap bundle deal is an option. There's quite a few here www.pp.co.nz - one of the suppliers I like for cheaper hardware. I see most of the really cheap bundles have gone out of stock since last I checked though and you have to scroll well down into the intel section to find anything. |

As for Celeron CPU's -- :yuck: You would be hard Pressed to even find one, they have gone. The only ones you can get under a i3 is a Pentium,and the performance difference between a Bottom end i3 & top end Pentium is really noticeable. you coudl upgrade just the mobo/cpu/ram/ssd and have a very nice pc for them for less than $400 Really ??? With a 9 year old OS which could be XP, and no longer supported by some motherboard manufactures. |
