1396223 2015-03-11 21:37:00 Clickfree backup came preinstalled with our Toshiba notebook. (Wins 8.1) We decided we don't want it so used My Uninstaller to uninstall it. All good with the listing on Programmes and icon gone from My Uninstaller.an However, now every time we open the internet, a box pops up telling us that the programme is not responding do we want to check for solutions to the problem. We tell it politely NO and close it where indicated. A few seconds later the popup box returns asking the same question to which we respond with a similar action. That sorts it for that session but each time we open the internet the same thing happens. It is only an annoyance but we would rather not have to go through the process all the time. Is it best to install the programme afresh then uninstall using the programmes (or is it an APP) uninstall process or can someone suggest a conclusive way of ridding our notebook of it entirely? Thanks. katharinem (3459)
1396224 2015-03-11 21:47:00 Reset Internet Explorer, through control panel, internet
Brand name laptops & PC's often come riddled with crapware, possibly some other preinstalled software & some IE toolbars pre-installed causing issues ?
Could also be pre-installed trial Antivirus causing issues (Mcafee/Norton ?)

1396225 2015-03-12 00:44:00 Thanks - there was a load of Toshiba crap I've got rid of. AV is Defender and I use Malwarebytes and CCleaner. Am actually using Int Explorer on notebook. Use Chrome on others. I heard IntEx wasn't so bad with Wins 8.1??? katharinem (3459)
1396226 2015-03-12 05:35:00 Best AV is Eset Nod 32 (this is a paid one). For Win 8.1 defender is ok, the free one.
Have you updated to 8.1.1?

Nothing (well, not much) wrong with Windows 8, just learn how to tame it lol!
