Don't they feel a little guilty seeing most of their co-workers getting minimum wages, with miserable 20c yearly increment? In my opinion, anyone who gets more than half a million a year is way, way too much; their money will just pile up in their bank accounts. Money is of very little use to them at that status. If I were them, I would feel very guilty and would just turn down this sort of pay offer and suggest to spread the money to all those co-workers who are getting minimum wages. And, I know for sure, it won't happen to me. LOL |

Why not just go all the way & have everyone on the same wage.....wait wasnt that tried before, and failed :-) Why not compare NZ av wages to those in 3rd world countries & make the same conclusion , ie we are all paid too much. we should all be ashamed at our wages when 3rd world workers get $5 a day. Yet do you offer not to be paid your wage & offer to spread MOST of your wages around to those in 3rd world countries. If not isnt that a bit hypocritical ? If you get paid $60K or even $80k would you say, no thats too much when the cleaners only get $25K . Would you then offer to give 1/3 of your pay to the cleaners ? Why not, since you say thats what the top earners should do. This is why he was paid so much "He guided the ANZ's New Zealand profit to $1.37 billion in 2013 - up 4 per cent." |

Maybee thats something I can steer my kids towards . Instead of being jealous, why not not see it as something to aim for We see success as something to be despised. |

LOL I don't have a problem with the various CEOs of banks, telcos etc getting paid what they do as it is a tough competitive market out there and none of their jobs are certain if they don't perform. I have and issue with CEOs of utility companies ( power and water) getting paid high salaries though, yes it is a competitive market but power and water are something that we take for granted as a developed country. I do have an issue with some bank staff being given temporary contracts.www.nzherald.co.nz I find this to be insulting, and demoralising to hard working staff. |

Are you saying that a communist society would be better where everybody is equal no matter what their job, although some are more equal than others... Also, why should the situation be changed? |

Any thing more than half a million will just be a bank account figures - nothing more than that! They are of no physical use any more. Probably they just enjoy seeing the number of zeros increasing! |

Some place more emphasis on what people have or are paid, than what they actually do. Unfortunately, that seems to be the nature of a lot of people and/or society. If I ever have that much money I'll let you know whether I feel guilty, or not. |
