Is this is the best they can do in news. Mind you its an iphone so guess that's news to the i Crowd.

Sorry but this can happen to any phone and nothing happens - my android has been dropped more times then a I like including while running, flies out of pocket skidding across the road or drive and no damage.

Maybe its a iDiot test in the video to see if they can actually open the box :D

1384303 2014-09-19 12:14:00 years ago I dropped a new nokia flip phone about 4 metres onto a concrete floor while climbing a ladder, it flew it 3 different directions with the battery, back cover, and main body all ending up some distance apart.
Clicked it back together and it worked fine, a couple minor scuffs on the back was the only sign of damage. Try that with a smartphone :)

Indeed, lots of people drop their phones, that's why I have a silicone cover on mine :)

I think the more interesting news would be the thousands of people queuing up outside Apple stores for the iPhone 6... You definitely don't get that for any new Samsung Galaxy ;)

1384305 2014-09-19 23:04:00 No, because Galaxy users have a degree of patience and don't necessary upgrade at the very first second ;) pcuser42 (130)

Hmmm ... I think I'll take my 4 million iPhone 6 sales in the first day over your Samsung customers "wait and see" approach :)...

1384308 2014-09-20 01:00:00 Whether you like iPhone or not, it's a quick way to make money if you're in Hong Kong.

If you're lucky to get two iphone (limit is 2) online, you walk in Apple store, pay NZ$1299, the moment you step out from the Apple store, instantly someone will pay you approx NZ$2700 - $3000 for it.

It does in China, assembling them. It's probably something more NZ companies should consider doing. Research and design the product here and then get it assembled in China, Taiwan or India and then shipped to where ever to be sold.
