423281 2006-01-22 20:44:00 I have two usb printers and 2 windows xp computers Is it possible to buy a hub that will allow me access to both printers from either or both computers at the same time?????? lorry (8865)
423282 2006-01-22 20:49:00 If 1 printer is on each PC now, just share them.

Then you'll be able to print to either printer, from both computers.

Are the computers networked?

423283 2006-01-22 21:01:00 No they are not networked and there is still the problem that both computers would have to be turned on to print to both printers lorry (8865)
423284 2006-01-22 21:11:00 Yup both computers, will have to be on to print, unless u get something like a USB print server. (I think this is what you call it).

And both will have to be networked, either with ethernet cable (wired), or by using wireless (WI-FI). Wireless can either be PCI Cards, or USB adapters.

So, u can use either printer, from either computer.

423285 2006-01-23 02:24:00 A print server would be the nicest thing.

A less elegant way would be a USB switch. I have one which can connect "Up" to two computers, and "down" to 4 USB devices. It has a switch to select which computer "owns" the devices. I haven't ever used it in that mode ... I just bought it as a cheap hub. ;)
