423093 2006-01-22 02:03:00 Hey all. I'm having alot of problems with my DVD-RAM drive recently. I'm running a Toshiba Satellite A70, Windows XP SP2, 3.06Ghz P4, 448MB RAM, and my DVD-RAM drive just won't read some CD's anymore. Some work alright, but I tried installing something off of a CD earlier, and it gave me the error about 2 minutes into the install saying: " Failed reading source file: D:\Media\training_CAPT.int (Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).)

Anyone run into this problem or know how to step in the right direction? I've tried some other CD's, some work, some don't. I've cleaned the lens of the Drive with a CD-cleaner (the CD with small brushes on it.) And i've cleaned the CD as well. I know the CD isn't bad because my friend installed this on his computer. I'm at my wits end with this one. If you need to know anymore specs, just ask.

423095 2006-01-22 06:29:00 yeah, i got it on christmas, so i'll have to check to see what kind of warranty coverage i have. I can't remember off the top of my head. Anyways, I think I just might do that, since I have a day off tomorrow i'll look into it. Thanks for the advice anyhow. Jared007 (9666)
423096 2006-01-22 06:35:00 Have a look for a firmware update (for the drive) on Toshiba's website.
Otherwise, try another one (the whole drive probably is ejectable) or don't muck around and go down the warranty route.
