| 422908 | 2006-01-21 08:25:00 | I have their home plan at the moment I have 1 phone line for talking 1 phone line for internet the saturn tv and the dial up internet with them. Called triple plan phone, tv and internet. | luckysmum (1528) | ||
| 422909 | 2006-01-21 08:41:00 | I am beginning to get confused too, now :) I was sure luckysmum had 'Saturn' cable as she is in Christchurch and also getting TV as well as phones, and would be able to get broadband via that and a cable modem instead of dial up, but I may well be wrong as the Telstra site says that HomePlan is not available in their cable area!! "HomePlan is not available in all areas, in TelstraClear cabled areas, or to customers who do not currently have home line rental with either TelstraClear or another provider." I find it difficult to understand Telstra laying another line just for ADSL, when they can use the existing copper wire from the exchange. I'm sure the best thing is for luckys mum to talk to Telstra nicely and try and get a good deal for broadband. I think I'll go to bed thoroughly confused! |

Yes Terry I think that is the best idea, I will check my stuff for a phone number or just get it off the net and ring them tomorrow or monday. Once again thanks for all your help. :) | luckysmum (1528) | ||
| 422911 | 2006-01-21 22:14:00 | :) Thank you very much for all the information. Thank you especially about the cable as I did not know that it was different. I rung Telstra clear today. Here is what I learned. Cable and broadband are virtually the same but Adsl you have to be a Telecom customer, Cable you don't but you have to be in the area where it is layed. I asked him about the 12 month connection and he said they more than likely wouldn't charge me a default if it was down to sickness or death but don't quote him on that :) So I went cable and the 12 month connection . I would be losing my 2nd line for the puter and internet fee and that was a saving of $33.95. If I went 1gig it would have cost me another $6 a month from what I am paying now . So I went with the 4gigs a month to start as it was only costing me an extra $16.00 a month from what I am paying now and if I do not use it in the first 2 months I can cut back. Plus I get a discount being on the triple plan. So on the 10th of febuary I will be joining the cable internet network. Once again Thank you for all your input and ideas. :) |
