| 423300 | 2006-01-21 21:00:00 | I’ve heard of this before and I think it was computers that have been brought into the country by people immigrating . I think the first thing to do, if Speedy’s suggestion doesn’t work, is to identify the language . This may require you to carefully write it down, scan it, and post it as a picture somewhere . Then we can all have a guess as to what it says, if indeed it is a language . Not a lot of help I know, but I’m reasonably confident that you can get over it . The other thing is what is written on the bios chip? |

And voila the battery will come out . lol, can't say I've heard of people cracking a motherboard to get a battery out . They must have used a bit of force to remove it . |

| 423302 | 2006-01-22 00:00:00 | The disk will not have any jumpers installed to limit it to 2GB . It HAD 40 GB in use . Removing the motherboard button cell will probably reset it to English (after all, the "World" is the USA, and it speaks English ;)) . Just don't force the clip . They do break if they are forced . :( First look for a jumper on the motherboard marked something like "Reset BIOS" . That might do the job without any risk . The BIOS might be giving you a choice of languages in the split screen you get . (THe "F8" entry is the way to the setup routines . ) If you are a bit scared of the other way, try using that screen "blind" . I suspect the up-down movable cursor will not be at the top left postion when you get that page on the screen . Try moving it to that position (which mighht be English) , then finding a way to "exit with save" . Try the "Esc" key, first . If you are very lucky it will ask if you want to save the settings, in English . :D Otherwise try the two buttons at the bottom, in turn . Why haven't you challenged the kids with this? Kids play complicated games without even glancing at the instructions . They just hit all the buttons and that sets up all the eye-finger connections without going through the normal brain functions . |

I've heard of them holding their existing settings for 20 minutes. |

| 423305 | 2006-01-22 01:34:00 | Hi There I did try taking the battery out (but only for a few minutes) It did give me part of an English strat up screen but the BIOS language was still gooble-d-gook. I will try leaving it out longer. Let you know after 3:00pm what happens.... Thanks Meg |
